TRANSPORT ASSESSMENTS & STATEMENTS

Transport Assessments and Statements are ways of assessing and mitigating the transport impacts of a development in order to promote sustainable development. They are required for all developments which generate significant amounts of movements. The Arcitran team have extensive experience of preparing Transport Assessments and Statements for a range of clients and projects across the UK.


EXPERT WITNESS

Arcitran Founder, Nigel Atkinson, has decades of experience of acting as an Expert Witness for our clients on various schemes. Our accurate and detailed approach ensures that the projects we work on have the greatest potential possible to withstand demanding and technical challenges that may be raised at a Public Inquiry.


HiGHWAY AND JUNCTION DESIGN

Our engineers are able to provide expert services to create and modify public and private highways, from an outline stage through to construction. The team has experience of working with various Local Highway Authorities and are able to use this insight to ensure compliance with Local Highway Authority requirements in order to provide you with a solution in a minimal time-frame.


GIS

Our trained GIS experts are on the cutting edge of what is possible within GIS and bring these skills into the Transport Planning environment. The team have substantial experience in building GIS models to assess the accessibility of a site by walking, cycling and Public Transport, to model the effect of providing new infrastructure or transport links and to optimise the depot locations and routing of large vehicle fleets.


TRAVEL PLANS & TRAVEL PLAN COORDINATION

Travel Plans are long-term management strategies for integrating proposals for sustainable travel into the planning process. They are based on evidence of the anticipated transport impacts of development and set measures to promote and encourage sustainable travel (such as promoting walking and cycling). Arcitran are able to offer a bespoke service ranging from producing a heads of terms Travel Plan, to the role of Travel Plan Coordinator for our clients. We can manage and implement the Travel Plan throughout its lifespan to help the Travel Plan reach its targets.


ACCESSIBILITY ASSESSMENTS

The Arcitran team are highly experience in working with a range of stakeholders to locate, justify and gain consent for safe and suitable accesses for a range of modes of transport, including cars, pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.


SWEPT PATH ANALYSIS

Vehicle Swept Path Analysis is a crucial stage in the planning process as it ensures a development has a safe and viable layout. The team at Arcitran has extensive experience of undertaking these assessments to ensure that the largest possible area remains for development purposes, using the industry standard AutoTrack package within AutoCAD. The team also have extensive experience of using these skills to undertake feasibility and routing assessments for the transport and delivery of wind farm towers and blades.


Noise and Air Quality Assessments

The Arcitran team are able to provide Noise and Air Quality Assessments through all phases of the planning process through feasibility, construction/demolition and onto final commissioning. Our assessments are able to help protect and improve the local noise and air quality environment to ensure that the project, the people and the resulting communities can thrive.


ENVIRONMENTAL IMpact Assessments

An Environmental Impact Assessment is required when the screening process determines that a development is likely to have a significant impact on the environment, and are mandated under the Town and Country Planning Regulations. The Arcitran team have considerable experience in preparing the Transport elements of Environmental Statements.


SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL ASSESSMENTS

With the ever increasing importance placed on increasing the use of sustainable and non-motorised forms of transport, Arcitran are proud to offer our clients the ability to undertake Sustainable Travel Assessments. These audits identify potential issues along specified routes to / from a destination and propose any mitigation, if neccessary. This helps to ensure that safe travel along a route can be achieved by non-motorised modes.


WCHAR

Government guidance on planning for non-motorised users was updated in 2019 with the publication of GG 142 “Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding Assessment & Review” (WCHAR). The Arcitran team offers a wealth of knowledge in delivering WCHAR reports, including experienced equestrians who are able to offer a highly specialised service with particular regard to equestrian users.


Detailed Design

Our detailed design team have extensive experience of working with a number of Local Highway Authorities through the technical approval process for detailed design matters. The team are able to undertake the detailed scheme design, negotiate with the Local Authority, legal team and third parties to ensure a coordinated process, arrange the Road Safety Audit process and produce a designers response.
